“I followed my medical team’s instructions to the letter. I didn’t put off looking at my incisions; I felt like the longer I put it off, the harder it would be.
The three weeks I stayed home after my surgery, I spent resting, eating, and healing.”
“I asked my husband to wash my hair out on our deck.
It was very hot out, still, in early September, so the cool water from the hose felt marvelous, as did finally having my hair washed!”
“I think it’s important for one’s mental health to, sort of, deal with one thing at a time.
You can’t be focused on worrying about metastasis when you’re trying to get through a really difficult protocol of chemo.
That’s the way I feel about it, and that’s the way I’ve tried to segment it in my head.
Okay, this is what I have to deal with first, is surgery, and getting over surgery.
And washing my hair.
And getting through today.
And then, I’m not going to think about what comes after that.”

You’re awesome. You are an inspiration. I hope if I’m ever in your shoes that I can take it as sanely and logically as you have.

I wish you the greatest of health, not only because we are like THIS X (is there an emotican for crossed fingers?), but because you are AWESOME! Only a real friend clues you in to the dreaded BEAN TEETH.
Also, never punch me with the pink boxing gloves…

I get a lump in my throat reading these comments. As most of you know, I have no immediate family left in this world. It’s very heartening to know I still have dear friends and cousins and in-laws
. I thank you for your kind words and your expressions of caring.
