On mapping the road…
“Not everybody is as ‘get it done, get it done, get it done’ as I was.
My mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer 6 months previously. I wanted to do something because I felt helpless.
So, I’d joined a support group.
I had been to five meetings and I had met these ladies, and I had listened to them, to their counsel. So I knew the lingo.
And when I felt it (the lump), I knew.
I felt they came into my life for a purpose. Without those women, who knows?
Who knows?”
“So, I made a chart. I was a construction paper, scissors, glue and glitter queen, let me tell you, with 3 children under 3.
We got a big sheet of construction paper and we made up a 6 month chart in little weeks. And I plotted them out in squares. And I bought a whole bunch of stickers, just all kinds of fun stickers.
And every day, I would pick one of the kids up, and they got to pick the sticker, and they would put a sticker in that square.
And it was visualization for me.
I visualized; it was a visual reminder that it was almost over.
I got another week down. I got another week down.
And that’s how I did it.
Day by day.
I had to make a goal.”

Lamarcia, my friend, this is the day — that the Lord has made. Looking at FP team photographs, reading our messages of strength – our stories, pulls me one step closer to God the Father because HE ORGANIZED US THAT DAY. What a fun, emotional time with I Fight Like A Girl administrators. YOU ARE SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL. You are gonna be one knock-out gorgeous nurse! Patients will follow your instructions for sure because they will be dazzled. So proud of you. See you soon.
Lamarcia “buddy” I am so proud of you. You have become a beautiful woman and will be an awesome nurse. Love you

Way to go girl!! You look great!
Lamarcia,
What would I have done without you . First off, I might never have gone to the Dr. if it wasn’t for you. Actually, I know I wouldn’t have gone. Thank you for saving my life. Thank you for taking me under your wing. The meals, the support, the many moves. I couldn’t have done any of this alone. You are so beautiful in these pictures. Your eyes tell a story. I am so lucky that I had you to help me and have you still as my friend.
I said that I think of the funny stuff now….. Do you remember racing me home from the hospital and having Bev in the driveway with pain meds. Also, remember the first trip to the dr. after surgery and you thought taking a side road would be good, but it was under construction and we hit every bump and it hurt like hell…. Those are the things I want to remember. But mostly I want to remember you. You will make a fine nurse and I am so proud of your perseverance and hard work.
I love you forever.
Betsy
