“One co-worker that I didn’t know well, her hair was extremely short and you could tell that she had probably had some kind of illness; that that is what caused it.
Then, someone told me that yes, she was recovering from breast cancer.
She was one of the first people I called.
She didn’t give me any advice, really; mainly just to stay positive. And, I did write her a note later, saying ‘thank you very much’ because her openness helped me to be able to talk to people and let them know.”
“I grew up where you didn’t talk about things like that.
Any friends that had had cancer, it was something you whispered about.
‘She’s got cancer.’
You didn’t talk about it.
It was sad and it was depressing and you didn’t want anyone to know. But, talking to people at work… I decided to be very open and to tell everybody.”

Renee, you look beautiful!
That’s my sister! I’m so proud and so very glad she did “fight like a girl”. She’s still here to share her life with all of us. She withstood the diagnosis, surgeries, and treatment with such courage and grace. She’s my hero!
You kept such a great attitute throughout. The cancer was no match for your endless humor and good nature! Your willingness to laugh every day not only helped you but also helped those around you (like me) to cope. You are the awesome-est.

Renee’ ,
when we were growing up,you had a Mighty Mouse T shirt hanging on your wall in your bedroom. You have proved to yourself and to everyone else that you are still Mighty! I know you had to go through this while the reality of your mom’s health was becoming clearer and she was not able to be your caretaker as much as you were hers.. but , you pulled your boots on, you stood up, and you made up your mind to fight… ! Oh, I am proud of you… but I aint surprised at all.. you were always strong and always mighty!
Love you, Renee’.. you just remember that!
Renee,
You look so cute! You have to order a lifesize photos of yourself and post it to your wall (like those fathead stickers). That would be so awesome. That way you can be reminded of what a great fighter you were and still are. I know you encourage lots of women to fight like you did. Way to go!
Renee
You do not know me but I know you through your loving family and truly your sister and true friend, which is a blessing in itself.
God bless and keep up your good strength and keep your faith. Your neighbor from Wax

Renee,
25 years ago I lost my mom to cancer and over time I realized she taught me how to die with Dignity, Grace and Love. It was one of the best lessons of my life! Being able to observe how you handled the most difficult time of your life, I was able to to have another life lesson. Showing me what true strength of heart, determination, quiet selflessness, calm resolve and courage in one human can accomplish when their backs are against the wall. Renee you taught me the lesson of Life. Thank You
I don’t have many Hero’s and I am not easily impressed, but young lady you impressed me and you will always be my HERO. All my Love Your favorite Brother-in- Law (only)

Renee, you look GORGIOUS in pink! You are a sweet and precious human being, you are such an inspiration to all of us. May God continue to be with you on this journey in life and tio inspire many many others!
Love you.
Renee,
I met you in the 1970′s while attending North Texas State. I was a good friend of your sister’s. Though you were young, I remember you as a smart, strong young girl! I see that the “smarts” and the “strength” continue to encompass who you are! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
This past May, I lost my strong, “bad-ass”, fighter-pilot of a dad to cancer. He fought it long and hard with a will unfounded, but now he is flying with the angels. So I saw too, what cancer can and cannot do.
I wish you continued great health and strength!
Renee,
I love the photos! They truly capture the true essence of Renee. You are a fiercely strong woman and can conquer anything you put your mind to. You are an awesome role model. It is an honor to work with you. I pray that God continues to bless you.

Karen (you know, “your friend Karen” lol)
Renee you look awesome. I love these pictures. Yes you need to talk, talk, talk!! My diagnosis was in the summer of 2008. I have a little rock at work that has the word “Hope” painted on it and it gives me peace of mind. Thank you for sharing your testimony!
Renee, Thank you for adding this link to FB. Continue to be brave and strong for yourself and for all women. You are WONDERFUL!
You have to be a strong and positive person to beat breast cancer. I’m so proud of you for staying strong and sharing this story. I know you have touched many lives and gave them a reason to become a survivor.
Renee, I’m glad you choose to participate in this project. You look great!
