Sherrie

On sharing…

“I dreaded this, really.  I never talked about my cancer to anybody, really, as far as me physically, my personal story.

I could tell people, ‘You’ll get through it,’ but not any details.  I thought, ‘I’m not good at talking about myself.’

But, then I thought, ‘You know, everybody’s done something to say, ‘I believe in this.  I support this.’

But, I haven’t.

I just sat back and let everybody do it.  Maybe this is God’s way of telling me, ‘You need to get out there and do it.  You need to tell your story.’

So, that’s why I’m here.”

“Isn’t it amazing?  All this time, and just talking about it, brings it all back to you.

And I just think if anyone is willing to come and talk, that shows a lot of strength in that person.  They are stronger than they even realize.

We are.

We are strong women.

All of us.”

I know someone else who decided to talk. It was the best way she could have handled this and it was a gift to us all. If she talked then we didn’t have to hide behind our fears and it gave us permission to support instead of waiting for a cue and pretending it wasn’t happening. I love your photos and you are an inspiration!

What a gogeous woman! You shared something so private and that helps us all have hope. My 94 year old grandma is also a survivor and she has been my hero for many years, and now I have you, too. You are strong and caring and are always giving to others. We should all have a little Sherrie in all of us.
